The annual conference of the CCS - IHSA is the primary opportunity in Ireland for students of history to meet and was
first organised in Newman House of UCD in Dublin in 1950, with representatives of the five Irish universities then extant
attending. Students from Ireland and those studying Irish history abroad present papers at this event, to which all history
students are welcome.
Congratulations to the organising team of Coláiste na hOllscoile Corcaigh (UCC) lead by Sarah-Anne and Alan for a really
well run and enjoyable 2011 conference. Good luck to the Cumann Staire (NUIG) team with the impressive plans for their
hosting of the 2012 conference on the banks of the Galway River.
There are
five cash prizes awarded for conference papers and these will be published alongside
other select papers in the new peer reviewed electronic journal of the CCS - IHSA.
The Call For Papers for our Comhdháil Bhliantúil 2012 has been made with 200 word abstracts being sought from both undergraduate and postgraduate students on any historical topic or period. The closing date is the 15 February, a short bio (100 words) is also required and papers may be submitted and presented in Irish or English. Full details on submission are available from the Cumann Staire (NUIG) website here while the facebook event page is available here.
