Best fo luck to Tomás Ó Brógáin and his team as they build a new Cumann Staire - History Society in the North-West.

Book launch of In Search of the Promised Land by Gary Murphy in the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, Dawson St, Baile Átha Cliath Dé Céadaoin 25/11/09 at 18:30. In Search Of The Promised Land is a head-on challenge to the prevailing view that Post-Second World War Ireland was in a state of chaos. Gary Murphy argues that the Irish political and administrative establishment was much more in tune with events in Western Europe than has been allowed for to date. Murphy contends that rather than pursuing a conservative and isolationist agenda, the leaders of the country were actively considering changes such as joining the EEC, opening up the economy to competition and were seeking new ways to deal with the state’s challenges.

Tonaí Ó Roduibh has assumed the role of webmaster for the CCS - IHSA and will design, build and roll-out a new website. This website will repace the temporary website put in place in 2007 and will go live in the autumn of 2009. Tonaí designed and built the website for the Cumann Staire of Ollscoil na hÉireann Gaillimh (NUIG) and will build the new website to the same high standard based on PHP and CSS2. Two key benefits of the creation of a rich and permanent web presence are the easy access to information on the association and its events, and in aiding those engaged in planning the annual conference through allowing them review how the event was organised in previous years. The creation of a suitable presence on the internationally popular social networking site Facebook also mirrors the progress of the Cumann Staire in building a multi-faceted electronic presence that facilitates communication with members, similar organisations and the wider public.
