Aer Lingus www
The former state airline whose name means 'air fleet' has evolved into a good value competitor to its once minnow sized
neighbour of Ryanair. It operates flights to the main airports of the country from the rest of Europe and the USA. Following
the lead of Ryanair it offers special deals via its website in order to maintain a high average occupancy on its flights. Their
carry-on baggage allowance is more generous than that of Ryanair and there is more legroom on their planes. Seats are
assigned and can be chosen for an added charge.
Ryanair www
Now one of the biggest airlines in the world, Ryanair operates a wide variety of flights to various airports on the island. As the
world's leading low cost carrier they have developed many of the features of this model and continue to come-up with new
ways of breaking down the cost of flying into a small core element and multiple charges. Flights can only be bought
from its website, on which there is a constant stream of deals offered in order to keep a high percentage of seats sold. This
business model can sometimes result in seats being offered at a lower price nearer the flight date than those purchased well
in advance. However, this only happens where their price modeling has failed to shift enough seats by certain dates and it is
generally advised to buy the cheapest seats available on each flight before they are sold out. Reknowned as having a strict
policy in relation to carry-on baggage size and weight; packing for their flights is an art form.
